Eligibility, Enrolling and When Coverage Begins and Ends

Eligibility

You are eligible to participate in the Edward Jones benefit program if you work at least 25 hours per week and you are a permanent, full-time associate. Your dependents also may be eligible to participate, if they meet the requirements described here.

Eligible dependents include:

  • Your Spouse or Child who is insured under the Provincial Plan.
  • Your Edward Jones-recognized Common Law Partnership.
Spouse:
  • Your legal spouse, or a person continuously living with you in a role like that of a marriage partner for at least 12 months.
Child:
  • Your natural or adopted child, or stepchild, who is:
  • Unmarried;
  • Under age 21, or under age 25 if a full-time student;
  • Not employed on a full-time basis; and
  • Not eligible for insurance as an employee under this or any other group benefit program.

Note: a stepchild must be living with you to be eligible. A newborn child is eligible from birth.

Enrolment

When Coverage Ends

Several circumstances may end your benefits coverage. They include:

  • You stop paying premiums (for benefits that require a premium)
  • Your status changes to part-time or on-call
  • Your employment is terminated or you retire
  • You die
  • You commence active duty in any armed forces
